Caring for our Elders…

Community Worship at Chestelm Adult Day Services
& Commonwealth Senior Living

St. Stephen’s conducts monthly community worship services at Chestelm Adult Day Care Services in Moodus and Commonwealth Senior Living in Haddam for residents in independent living and memory care.

The worship service at Chestelm is led by The Rev. Erin Flinn and assisted by lay parishioners. Approximately 10-15 persons attend. Some of the group live in group homes and others live at home but due to their unique needs find it difficult to attend church on a regular basis. We are blessed to serve this community. The service includes familiar hymns, an affirmation of faith, prayers, confession, a brief reflection and discussion with the group, and Holy Communion.

The service at the Commonwealth Senior Living in Haddam memory unit  (Sweet Memories) is led by parishioners from St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, East Haddam and St. James Episcopal Church, Higganum. Approximately 15-20 attend a service similar to the service at Chestelm, without Holy Communion. Following the service, several of our group play familiar songs on their guitar and violin. St. Stephen’s conducts this monthly service with St. James, which has been offering a service for Commonwealth (formerly Saybrook at Haddam) since 2013.

The Rev. Erin also leads worship once a month during the week for residents of Commonwealth Senior Living. Typically on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.

We are very grateful to be able to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ with people who ordinarily would not be able to attend worship services.
