The Rev. Erin Flinn

Rector

Erin comes to St. Stephen’s after a fascinating career and not-so-ordinary route to ministry. She started out in a completely different field – as a lighting designer for major theaters and productions – before being called to ministry. Most notably, serving as the Assistant Lighting Designer for Chicago’s renowned Lyric Opera. In 2014, with the support of her husband Joey, whom she met while working at Glimmerglass Opera, Erin packed up everything in Chicago and moved to Connecticut, where she attended Yale Divinity School and the Berkeley Seminary, earning Master of Divinity and a diploma in Anglican Studies. After graduating from YDS, Erin served as the North Central Region Missionary for the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut, where she focused on initiatives to foster lay leadership and participation, develop relationships with the broader community, facilitate online worship, and support social justice efforts. Originally hailing from New Hampshire, Erin is delighted to call New England home again, along with her husband, Joey; son, Hunter; and their huge Newfoundland pup, Hannah. When Erin isn’t at the church, she can be found playing with her son in her garden or at the fish pond. Delighting in any excuse to be outside!
