Adult Choir

The choir sings weekly during the 10:00 AM worship service, with an expanded choir assembled around Christmas and Easter to sing larger works. Anthems are not limited to a particular style, but range from early music through to modern gospel sounds. Newcomers are always welcome; if you enjoy good fellowship and can carry a tune, feel free to join in. Everyone is welcome, from high school age on up.

Choir rehearsal is on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the chapel, and on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in the sanctuary. A monthly Saturday “make up” session is also available.  While singers aren’t expected to make every rehearsal, we do ask that you come to as many as you can.  There are no evening rehearsals in the summer months.

Soloists and Instrumentalists

Guest soloists and instrumentalists are always welcome to provide special music at the regular 10:00 a.m. service. Guests need not be members of the church. The music program seeks to provide a nurturing environment for students seeking a venue as they work on their craft, and to welcome all musicians who wish to contribute to the worship service through their musical talents.

For further information on participating in the music program as a regular or occasional singer or instrumentalist, contact Maryann McCary at maryann@ststeves.org.

“Steal Away” is a traditional spiritual, arranged by Moses Hogan. Sung by the St. Stephen’s choir on April 26, 2020.
